Bio

Zak Newman is a 2009 graduate of Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Digital Art. His work focuses primarily on magical realism. Newman was able to exhibit work in the Make Believe juried exhibition in South Bend, Indiana. He has also displayed work in the juried Undergraduate Art and Design Exhibition at BGSU, where he took second place in Digital Imaging and Digital Video. In 2008 he received the Junior Talent Award Scholarship given annually at BGSU. He has completed work on an illustrated children's novel titled A Dream of Light and Dark: Josie’s Story, and an illustrated novel entitled Goodfellow for which he recieved the Mayeux award given annually by the BGSU Honors Program. He is currently seeking publishers for both. Newman draws inspiration from acclaimed artists such as Charles Vess, Brian Froud and Scott McCloud and writers such as Neil Gaiman, Stephen King and J.R.R. Tolkein. His work is primarily produced through photo manipulation and digital painting.
